THE HONOURABLE FRANCES ADAMSON AC CELEBRATES GLOBAL BEACH VOLLEYBALL AT ADELAIDE FINALS

Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia and patron of the Beach Volleyball World Championships, joined athletes, fans, and international officials in Adelaide for the thrilling conclusion of the 10 day festival, attending the gold medal matches at The Drive.

Last week, the Governor welcomed representatives from more than 40 competing nations at an official reception at Government House. The event set an inspiring tone for the Championships, highlighting South Australia’s commitment to global friendship, cultural exchange, and the celebration of world-class sport.

Throughout finals day, spectacular crowds packed The Drive, which had been transformed into a world-class beach volleyball arena in the heart of Adelaide. The energy was electric as fans filled the stands, creating an atmosphere worthy of the world’s best athletes as they competed for gold.

The Governor was honoured with a special presentation from FIVB President Fabio Azevedo, recognising South Australia’s contribution as host of the World Championships.

Beach Volleyball World Championships CEO Jenny Mann praised the Governor’s engagement with the event and representing South Australia to the global stage.

“We are deeply honoured to have Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC join us to close our what has been a hugely successful Beach Volleyball World Championships,” Mann said.

“Her warm welcome to all the nations at Government House and her support at the gold medal finals reflect the spirit we aspired to create. The spectacular crowds and the vibrant atmosphere at The Drive showed the world how Adelaide hosts a major sporting event, with heart, pride, and incredible energy.”

The Beach Volleyball World Championships came to a stunning close with Sweden and Latvia crowned the World Champions.
