Olympic Gold Medallist Nat Cook enhances Beach Volleyball World Championships Ambassador Lineup

A quarter of a century after capturing the hearts of Australians with an unforgettable gold medal performance at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, beach volleyball legend Natalie Cook OAM OLY is set to return to the spotlight – this time as an ambassador for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, Adelaide 2025.

Nat Cook, alongside her playing partner Kerri Pottharst, delivered one of Australia’s most iconic Olympic moments on Bondi Beach in 2000. Now, 25 years on, she will play a pivotal role in championing the sport she helped put on the map.

Since retiring as an elite athlete, Cook has been a champion for the transformational power of sport and the life lessons learnt pursuing your dreams. Her trademark authenticity, energy and ease, combined with her success as both an elite athlete and influential business leader the announcement of Cook’s ambassadorship bolsters an already impressive lineup for the World Championships, joining Pottharst, Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medalist Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Paris 2024 Olympian Zachery Schubert.

Having served as a Director of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee, and holding a position on the World Olympians Association Board, Cook is a firm believer in Olympic sports potential to create enduring legacies for individuals, businesses and society as a whole.

In her role as ambassador, Cook will promote the diverse corporate hospitality offerings at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, Adelaide 2025 through engagement with the business community.

With Cook on board, the countdown to Adelaide 2025 is heating up, promising not only world class sport but also a celebration of the vibrant beach lifestyle that Australians proudly call their own.

“Hosting a World Championships at home for the first time ever is a perfect opportunity for our Aussie athletes and beach volleyball to shine on the world stage,” Cook said.

“As a key event on the green and gold runway to Brisbane 2032, we are excited to show off all areas of Australia.

“So head to Adelaide and soak up the atmosphere – you will love the vibe, passion and talent from all of the amazing athletes,” she said.

From 14-23 November, the World Championships will take over The Drive and Pinky Flat / Tarntanya Wama and will be the largest beach volleyball event ever held in Asia or Oceania – and fans are invited to be part of the action right in the heart of Adelaide.
